If We Don’t Have It, You Don’t Need It

Dan & Whit’s is a country store in Norwich, Vermont.  They say, “If we don’t have it, you don’t need it!”  It’s printed right on their T-shirts.

I’m wearing one of these clothing articles right now.  I am in the midst of a long, hard training hike in Frick Park.  A runner comes toward me with a look of recognition on his face but I don’t know who he is.  As he passes, he stops and says, “Dan & Whit’s!  I’ve been there!  Greatest place on Earth.  Have you been there?”

I say, “No, but my friend who lives in that area gave me this T-shirt and he also says it’s the greatest place on Earth.”

My runner says, “You have to go there.”

I say, “I will.”

I might have just lied to him.  I guess there’s nothing I need.  Aww, they wouldn’t have it anyway.
